Books+ is $12.99 the first month, then $19.99, for five. Stories is $15.99 a month: a new chapter every morning plus one complete book. The first two chapters are free.

Embers are StoryStepper’s small in-app currency for one-off purchases. You do not need a subscription to buy or spend them.
Plans do not include a monthly ember allowance. Subscribers use embers only for things beyond their plan. One whole book costs 15 embers, one new living story 35, a reweave (your latest chapter rewritten from your last choice) 5, and a character poster of your lead 2.

Yes. The first two chapters of any living story are free, before any subscription begins. A free account can also put 1 book a month from the Public Library on its shelf.
A library of finished books written with StoryStepper, open to signed-in readers (a free account is enough). Search by what you feel like reading, filter by genre and book language, read the opening, and put a book on your shelf to read in full. Each month: 1 book on a free account, 5 on Books, 10 on Books+ and 10 on Stories, on top of the books written for you.
Books and Books+ write complete short novels from your brief, each delivered within the hour: two a month on Books, five on Books+. Stories is a living story with a new chapter every morning, up to 21 chapters, plus one complete book a month.
Books asks six answers: the shape, the ending, the feel, the language, and who it is about. Stories asks eleven questions before the first chapter, such as the genre, the one word at the heart of it, the pace and your lead’s name.
Embers are a small in-app currency for one-off purchases, sold in bundles of 5 ($1.99), 15 ($5.99), 35 ($13.99) and 70 ($27.99). Plans do not include a monthly ember allowance. You only need embers for things beyond your plan, and you can buy them without a subscription.
Yes. One whole book costs 15 embers, and the 15-ember bundle is $5.99. No subscription is needed.
Yes, from your account. A plan change takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and nothing changes until you confirm.
