Why we built this
Every reading app turned books into feeds. We wanted the opposite.
No audience. No metrics. Just you and a narrator who never forgets what you chose.
How we write
We don’t generate a whole story and hope it holds together.
StoryStepper writes chapter by chapter. Three things happen before a single word reaches you each morning.
It remembers
Your story recalls everything that has already happened — every name, every turn, every choice you made.
It listens
It reads the decision you just made — the one only you could make — and takes it seriously.
It writes
Only then does it write tomorrow’s chapter. That is how pacing, continuity, and the feeling of being heard survive.
On the machine behind it
The prose is written by a large language model, guided by editorial rules and a writing system we built ourselves. We don’t hide that it’s AI — we try to make it the kind of AI writing that’s actually worth reading.
