Books · the whole book
A whole novel, written for you, within the hour.
StoryStepper Books writes a complete short novel with AI from your idea, for one reader. Give six answers (the shape, the ending, the feel, the language, and who it is about) and the finished book is yours within the hour, with its own cover. Romance, mystery, thriller, fantasy, drama, comedy, horror or crime. Two books a month, from $2.99 the first month.
Think of it as a Kindle Unlimited alternative that does two things: a Public Library of finished books you can browse, and new books written just for you. It is not a writing tool. You do not draft, prompt or edit chapters. You describe the book you want to read, and StoryStepper writes all of it.
Every book is planned in full before any prose is written: the arc, the world, every chapter. The plan is criticised and refined, then the manuscript is written in one sitting against it and audited for continuity. A language model writes the prose, guided by editorial rules, and we say openly that it is AI.
From your idea to a finished book
The brief
Six answers: the shape, the ending, the feel, the language, and who it is about. For the premise, a sentence or two is enough.
Planned in full
The arc, the world, every chapter: shaped, criticised and refined before a word of prose.
Written in one sitting
The manuscript is written against the plan and audited for continuity.
Yours within the hour
A complete short novel with its own cover, written for no one else. Read it at your own pace.
Writing tools for authors vs a finished book for readers
Different tools for different jobs. If you want to write a novel, an AI writing tool helps you do it. If you want to read a novel written for you, that is what Books does.

What comes with every book
You choose the ending

Its own cover
Every book arrives finished, with a cover of its own.
Private by default
No public feed, no public profile, no comments wall. Your book is shown to no one unless you invite them into a reading circle.
Read together, if you like
Invite up to five friends into an invite-only reading circle and read the same book.
A Public Library to browse
Search by what you feel like reading, filter by genre and language, read the opening, and put a book on your shelf: 5 library books a month on Books, 10 on Books+.

How long does it take to get my book?
Within the hour. The whole book arrives at once, so there are no chapters to wait for.
How long is the book?
A complete short novel: a full arc from opening to ending, planned chapter by chapter before it is written. Read it at your own pace.
What do I need to tell you?
Six answers: the shape (the genre), the ending, the feel, the language, and who it is about. For the premise, a sentence or two is enough.
Can I pick the ending?
Yes. The ending is one of the six answers, with five options: let it hurt (tragic), let them have it (hopeful), both at once (bittersweet), leave it open, or you decide (left to the writer). It is set before the first chapter is planned.
Which genres and languages are available?
Eight genres, chosen as the shape of the book: romance, mystery, thriller, fantasy, drama, comedy, horror and crime. Books are written in English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil) or Italian.
Is my book private?
Yes. The books written for you are private by default: no public feed, no public profile, and your book is shown to no one unless you invite them. If you want company, invite up to five friends into a reading circle. The Public Library is a separate shelf of finished books for signed-in readers.
Is it like Kindle Unlimited?
Partly. Like Kindle Unlimited, StoryStepper has books to browse: the Public Library of finished books written with StoryStepper. The difference is that StoryStepper also writes new books from your brief, for you alone, within the hour.
What is the Public Library?
A library of finished books written with StoryStepper, open to signed-in readers (a free account is enough). Search by what you feel like reading, filter by genre and book language (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian), read the opening, and put a book on your shelf to read in full. Books includes 5 library books a month, Books+ 10 and Stories 10; a free account gets 1. These come on top of the books written for you.
Can I get my book printed?
Not for now. Books are digital and read in your browser on phone, tablet or desktop, with nothing to download. There is no print edition for now.
How much does it cost?
Books is $2.99 the first month for new subscribers, $5.99 a month until 31 December 2026, then $9.99 a month, for two complete books a month. Books+ is $12.99 the first month, then $19.99 a month, for five. One book without a subscription costs 15 embers ($5.99).
